Volunteering

Volunteering

QEF relies on the dedicated and tireless work of our team of volunteers who give their time to assist us in our work for disabled people. Many volunteers are needed to help with the various fundraising events we undertake. If you think you could spare some time to help QEF help people with disabilities please get in contact with us as we would be delighted to hear from you.

QEF Retail

We have thirteen shops situated in the Surrey area which are managed from our Retail Trading headquarters in Oaklawn Road, Leatherhead

In our shops we require volunteers to:

  • Sort clothing
  • Steam stock
  • Price stock
  • Serve customers

At our headquarters we can offer the opportunity to assist in the mailing of Christmas cards on behalf of a variety of other charities.

At all locations we have very friendly and welcoming teams.

QEF Independent Living Services

Our service at Dorincourt in Oaklawn Road, Leatherhead would welcome help with the following tasks:

Gardening – we have extensive grounds that always need weeding, clearing, planting and ongoing maintenance for our clients to be able to enjoy the spaces.  Recently we have started developing a sensory garden, so help is always appreciated in this area.

Exterior tidying – painting fences and/or masonry – obviously some of this is at-height work, so we would not expect volunteers to do this – unless by chance they were suitably qualified decorators.

Dorincourt is home for our clients, all of whom are registered as vulnerable adults and have complex and severe physical and learning disabilities.  For our clients’ safety, and as our duty of care to them, we are therefore always cautious in allowing volunteers inside the premises. We would therefore, only have CRB cleared volunteers having direct contact with our clients, but, it is possible that activities such as painting, craft, drama and activity days could be helped out with volunteers if the clearance criteria were met.
